Localized Flooding Risk - ABCA, MVCA

We may not see a lot of snow for Christmas but the Asauble Bayfield Conservation Authority is warning us about flooding.

The authority covers the southern parts of Huron County.  And officials say 25 mm of precipitation is expected over the next two days.  Combined with the warmer weather, water levels are expected to increase quickly into Thursday.

Based on the current forecast, any flooding is expected to be limited to traditional floodplain areas.

Water levels will remain higher than normal throughout the weekend.

The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority will also be watching water levels but aren't expecting flooding.

Covering Northern Huron, Wellington and Perth county the MVCA  says flooding of traditional low lying areas is not expected, but the rivers will be higher than seasonal norms and very fast flowing.
