Hanover To Get New Youth Centre

Hanover will soon be home to a youth activity and technology centre thanks to funding from the Ontario government.

The Province has given the Town $200,000 to help develop the after-school centre, which will offer a variety of programs to the region's youth - including recreation, leisure, technology, arts, leadership, youth engagement and volunteerism

However, the centre's main purpose will be to offer skill development programs for the region's youth.

"We'd be looking for mentorship from area businesses to help teach the skills they are looking for." Sevanna Scause, Hanover's Economic Development and Communications Coordinator, tells CKNX News "We know there is a skill gap and this is one of the ways we are going to try and fix that gap."

The Town hopes to open the centre in March.

The province also gave Hanover $15,000 towards their new downtown street-scape project.
