18-Year-Old Charged With Child Luring

An 18-year-old man has been charged with child luring after four Owen Sound teenagers were asked to send nude photos of themselves over the Internet.

The Owen Sound Police Service says during the spring and summer of this year, all of the victims were contacted by a man who used a fake identity on a social a networking site. The man would ask for nude photos of the girls, and would then threaten to send the pictures over the Internet if they did not send more. Police are also investigating an incident where a 15-year-old girl from Pennsylvania, U.S.A. was being lured by the same individual.

The four victims from Owen Sound range in age from 12 to 13 years old.

On Thursday, Owen Sound police officers and the Halton Regional Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant at a home in Oakville and arrested an 18-year-old man. Police also seized computer devices within the home

The 18-year-old has been charged with five counts of luring a child, two counts of extortion, and two counts of possession of child pornography. The suspect, who cannot be identified because he was under 18 years old when the offences were committed, is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
