Brockton Looks At Tax Decrease

Brockton Mayor David Inglis is confident his municipality will have its 2015 budget passed soon.

A special budget session is being held today, with a document on the table that was drafted by the last council.

The proposed budget would see a two per-cent tax decrease.

“It’s a good budget.  It could be passed right away.  It’s the best budget that I’ve been involved in.  The lowest tax increase. So if we can come in with a 2 per cent decrease in the tax rate, that’s pretty good,” he says.

Inglis added that the proposed budget would still work, even with Brockton losing over $300,000 in municipal partnership funding. He is confident it could be passed next month.
