Wind Turbine Charter Challenge Continues In London

By Christian Aumell

An appeal hearing against industrial wind farms in Huron and Bruce counties continues today in a London courtroom.

Lawyers for the government and three major wind energy projects are expected to spend much of their time continuing to argue that the laws surrounding wind farm approval are indeed constitutional.

They had about an hour to make their case yesterday and explained that the Environmental Review Tribunal operates in a fair way. The government argues that they take a precautionary, science-based approach to protect human well-being.

That point was argued by the opposition lawyer, who stated the number of people who have experienced health issues after wind turbines became operational near their homes is proof that something is wrong with the current system.

The London hearing is supposed to conclude today but there is a strong chance that it will carry over into tomorrow.
