Huron County Forest Management Plan

Huron County councillors have approved a new Forest Management Plan.

Forest Conservation Officer Dave Pullen explains with the current price of land as high as it is, it's unlikely the county will be able to add to the amount of forest it has.  But Pullen points out there are things that can be done to maximize the economic benefit as well as promote recreational uses of the forests.

Pullen also suggests that greater use of 'living snow fences' would make highways safer; reduce highway maintenance; and even increase yields in the fields adjacent to the highway.

Pullen adds this is the first time Huron County has had an accurate inventory of its forests since the Ministry of Natural Resources was responsible for the county forests.
