Creative Cultural Assets Lacking in Huron County

Huron County councillor John Grace says employers in the county have told him that retaining a skilled labour force has become more difficult than attracting skilled labour.

Grace, who is a member of the county's new Economic Development Board, says he's been told that even in the farm sector, employers have had some success in attracting skilled young people to Huron County, but they only stay for six to eighteen months and then they move on.

Grace points out, "It's a different group pf people that we're trying to attract and retain today than it was 30 years ago. But the building of those critical cultural assets is probably going to be the number one retainment factor moving forward."

Grace maintains creating and developing that creative culture is going to be vital in retaining the young labour force that Huron County needs in order to grow.
