Eight Charged In Hanover Police Raid

Police have laid 52 charges against eight people and seized drugs, explosive devices and weapons after an early morning raid on a home in the 400-block of 5th Ave in Hanover.

At 3am on Monday, members of the Hanover Police Service executed a search warrant for firearms at a residence with assistance from the OPP Tactical and Rescue Unit, the OPP Drug Enforcement Unit, OPP Canine and the Saugeen Shores Police Service.

The team of officers arrested six suspects found inside the residence at the time and two other suspects that arrived at the residence while the search was underway.

The charges come as the result of a one month investigation into firearms offences.

The investigating officers seized about $5,000 worth of drugs, just over $1,500 cash, stolen property, compound bows, ammunition, prohibited weapons and explosive devices.

Those charged range in age from 20 to 41.

Four of those arrested are from Hanover, one from West Grey, one from Walkerton, one from Sundridge and one with no fixed address.
