Stone Soup concert Raises Over $7,000.

Organizers of the 'Stone Soup Concert' in Owen Sound Friday night were blown away by the response.

More than a dozen musicians donated their talent and time; a handful of volunteers kept the initiative on track; and they were able to get the atrium of the Public Health Building for free.

More than 150 people turned up to be part of the Stone Soup Concert for West Africa. It raised more than $7,000 for Doctors Without Borders - the organization at the front of the Ebola crisis in West Africa.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Hazel Lynn – who spent time working as a physician in Africa not far from 'ground zero' of the Ebola outbreak – spoke about the kinds of conditions the doctors face when they arrive.

Admission to the concert was free, but donations were accepted at the door. Donations over $50 were recognized with a special memento of the evening: a local river rock with the Doctors Without Borders logo and the words Stone Soup painted on.

All proceeds from the event go directly to Doctors Without Borders this week. Donors may still contribute online at www.stonesoupconcert.ca.
