To mark Remembrance Day, Grey Roots Museum near Owen Sound has opened an exhibit of World War One artifacts and memorabilia.
The exhibit is called Mrs. Eaton's War. She was a wealthy Owen Sound woman who followed her son to Europe when he went to war.
The museum's Susan Martin explains that Mrs. Eaton set up a gathering place in London, England for soldiers from Grey County, "In order to provide a place for the men fighting from Grey County where they could come when they were on leave and they could find newspapers from their home town and they could have tea, just kind of a place of respite."
Mrs. Eaton continued her work back home after the war to help returning soldiers who were damaged both physically and emotionally.
The exhibit also features a collection of letters that Grey County boys on the battlefields sent home. The exhibit at Grey Roots Museum runs through next May.
