North Perth Eliminates Planning Advisory Committee

The Municipality of North Perth will be cutting part of its planning process by the end of this month.

While committee member terms end on November 30th, staff and council have decided to let the terms of those on the Planning Advisory Committee expire - essentially abolishing the group.

Officials with the municipality say it will allow council to hear more discussion on motions, while also streamlining the legislative process.

The current system features three councillors and six members of the community on the North Perth Planning Advisory Committee.

Clerk Pat Berfeltz says "We acknowledge the fact that our boards and committees, their terms expire on November 30th 2014, so now we'll be looking forward for new members to join those committees, especially if we've got vacancies. As well moving forward with some of our planning decisions and how we can be more efficient."
