New Grey County Anti Smoking Rules
The Grey Bruce Health Unit commends Grey County for a new anti smoking bylaw.
It prohibits smoking within 9 m of any entrance or exit to government buildings.
Municipal by law enforcement and health unit staff will try to make sure the new rules are followed.
The next two months will be spent educating people about the new by-law.
Starting in January, violators could be fined up to $250 per offence.
Grey Bruce Medical Officer of health Dr. Hazel Lynn says there is no safe exposure to second hand smoke, so the new rules will create healthier communities .
Exposure to tobacco smoke contributes to the deaths of 13,000 Ontarians every year.
