New Funding For South Bruce Grey Health
The provincial government is kicking in some extra funding for the South Bruce Grey Health Centre.
President and CEO Paul Rosebush says the Ministry of Health has confirmed funding of just over $1-million from the Hospital Infrastructure Renewal Fund.
Rosebush says the funding can be used for a variety of infrastructure projects at their four hospital sites, with $700,000 committed for this year, and $350,000 committed for the fiscal year beginning in April of 2015.
He says it’s a big jump over the $287,000 they received from the same fund a year ago, which helps because the hospital continues to find itself in a deficit position.
At the halfway point of the fiscal year, Rosebush says they are running over budget by $309,000 and will have to reign in spending even more to break even.
“If we did a straight-line projection and nothing changed from today until the end of the [fiscal] year and our spend-rate was the same, we would end up with a shortfall of about $700,000. Ahead of the $1-million shortfall that we anticipated, but behind our goal of a balanced budget, which we are required to produce,” says Rosebush.
