More Visitors Enjoy Owen Sound

Owen Sound’s tourism season is seeing a boost during the spring and fall shoulder seasons.

Tourism Manager Steve Furness says about 7,000 people visited the Visitor Information Centre between May and September. That is up 16 per cent over last year.

The greatest increases were in May, June, and September. The number of tourists during those months, was almost equal to the number of mid-summer visitors.

Fruness say tourism is becoming a key economic driver. He says events like Ribfest, Sweetwater Music Festival, and the Owen Sound Salmon Tour are attracting new interest.
