Huron OPP Hope To Stop Violence Against Women

Huron OPP are spearheading a new initiative this weekend to help raise awareness about violence against women.

Officers will be joined by a number of area groups on Saturday – as they will be stationed outside six local grocery stores, handing out re-usable bags that read “Abuse is a crime and if someone suspects abuse they should report it to police”.

Team members will be at the stores from 11am to 1pm on Saturday – the start of Woman Abuse & Awareness Month in Ontario.

The bags will be purple, which is a colour used by a number of groups across the province to symbolize the fight to end woman abuse.
