Listowel’s McKeown Excited to Represent OHL in Super Series

Roland McKeown of Listowel hopes making the OHL team for November’s super series with Russia can put his talents in the spotlight.

The Kingston Frontenacs defenseman was selected for both games between the OHL and Russia as part of a 6 game CHL – Russia Series. The series comes to Ontario November 13th and 17th with the second in McKeown’s home rink in Kingston.

He says hockey Canada will be watching all the games closely ahead of this year’s World Junior Championship in Toronto and Montreal, McKeown hopes he can show his skills and crack the Canadian team.

“Anytime you get to put on the Maple Leaf is a special opportunity.” McKeown said by phone in Kingston. “These games are a big part in the decisions Hockey Canada makes.”

The series starts with the Russians taking on the WHL on November 10th and 11th. McKeown and the OHL play on the 13th in Peterborough and Kingston on the 17th. It wraps up with a pair of games against the QMJHL on November 18th and 20th.
