Huron County Won’t Join Wind Energy Appeal

Huron Council will not be joining Huron East Against Turbines in its appeal against wind energy projects in St. Columban and Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh.

The request came to the county as part of a presentation HEAT made to Huron East council last week asking support from the municipality as well as the County.

Huron East Mayor Bernie MacLellan conveyed the request at last week’s council meeting, but it was pointed out that county council would not respond to that type of request unless it was made in person or in writing.

At Wednesday’s County Council meeting, councillors asked that the request be received for information, which CAO Brenda Orchard explained meant that no further action would be taken.

The wind energy projects appeal is scheduled to be heard on November 17 and November 18 in London.
