Huron County Concerned About Broadband Plan

Huron County councillors have asked staff to keep them up to date on continuing discussions with the Western Ontario Warden’s Caucus on the project to bring broadband service to all of rural southwestern Ontario.
CAO Brenda Orchard says part of the problem is that local service providers offer Huron County residents the kind of service many of the other counties are looking for.
Some of the Western Wardens want to invite the larger providers into Huron County.
Orchard points out that would be in direct competition to Huron’s service providers for a service that already exists in Huron. It would also be using taxpayers dollars to compete against private business.
