Wellington County Donates To Louise Marshal Hospital

Local and county politicians along with members of the Always Here for You campaign hold the $2.2 cheque for improvements to the Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest.

Wellington County is giving the Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest a big boost.

The “Always Here for You Campaign” to raise money for local health care announced $2.2-million in support from the county for future projects

$1.2-million is going towards upgrades to emergency and ambulatory care.

Campaign chair Dr. Bob McFarlane says it’s badly needed for the aging facility that has to be up to date to care for an aging local population.

“Our existing emergency ward is 40 years old, and there really has been very little done, other than the drapes have probably been changed a few times,” says McFarlane. It is vastly in need of refurbishment. And then also for us to attract new physicians to the area.”

The other $1-million will go towards new mandated pharmaceutical equipment that dispenses and tracks inventory.

The contributions are part of the campaign’s main goal of $5-million towards local health care in Mount Forest.
