Central Huron Considers Full Time Fire Chief
Central Huron council is thinking about making the position of Fire Chief a full-time one. But after much discussion at last night’s meeting, councillors determined a final decision should be made by the new council after the election.
Some councillors were concerned about the cost of having a full-time Chief while others expressed concerns about liability issues if they were not prepared to respond to emergencies.
Most of the councillors wanted more information before making a decision, and in the end decided to defer a decision until the new council was in place.
Mayor Jim Ginn added “councillors aren’t here to spend, spend, spend. We’re taxpayers too and we don’t want to spend anymore than we really have to but you have to look at both sides of the issue.”
