Huron Poverty Simulation Planned

Health Units across the province are shining a spotlight on poverty during the current municipal election campaign.
Huron County Community Developer Janice Dunbar explains the local Poverty to Prosperity group has picked up the ball in Huron. They are asking all municipal candidates to complete a survey regarding their views on poverty and what role they feel municipal governments should play in addressing the issue.
A second event will be a ‘poverty simulation’ exercise on November 4th at the Health Unit south of Clinton.
She says, “That’s probably the most important part of this initiative is getting poeple in the room together to address a very complex issue.”
Dunbar says the results of the surveys will be posted on the Huron Health Unit’s web site with the candidates names but no comments on their answers.
