Owen Sound Pan Am Torch Run Stop

Owen Sound Mayor Deb Haswell is excited the city was selected as a major celebration community for the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Torch relay.

She says they look forward to welcoming the Pan Am flame next spring and will showcase the city’s unique heritage and sporting traditions.

Haswell is also encouraging residents 13 and older to sign up for a chance to be torchbearers at TORONTO2015.org.

The relay begins with the traditional Aztec lighting ceremony at the Pyramid of the Sun in Mexico, with Canadian journey launching from Toronto on May 30, 2015.

The torch will also make stops in Collingwood, Orangeville, Alliston, Woodstock, Kithchener and London.

In all, 3,000 people will carry the torch over 41 days.
