Mount forest Fire Station May End Public Hall Rental
Wellington North is considering closing a popular meeting hall at the Mount Forest fire station.
Firefighters want to expand their training and storage areas, and need more office space. It would also allow the firefighter’s gear to be stored away from the fire trucks, which are contaminating the clothing with diesel exhaust fumes.
The hall raises about $12,000 annually through public rentals.
Wellington North Mayor Ray Tout says there is no shortage of meeting halls in Mount Forest, including three at the Mount Forest Sports Complex. Council will make a decision on the meeting room at a future meeting.
