Hanover Considers Policing Options

Future police coverage in Hanover may not just be a case of local police or the OPP.

A report by now former CAO Mike Dunlop outlines five possible options. Dunlop says the initial hope is to keep the current Hanover police model, but as policing costs increase, it is important to have an open mind.

Other options include a merger between Hanover police and nearby local forces, contracting out policing to another municipality, or looking into a possible county-wide OPP service.

Dunlop adds there are a lot residents and the wishes of Hanover council to consider, including long term cost and response capabilities.
