Grey County Municipal Election Races

Voters will have a choice for their municipal leaders in most Grey County municipalities.

In West Grey, incumbent Kevin Eccles and Christine Robinson are running for mayor.  The race for deputy mayor is between John Bell and Jenny Parsons.

There’s a race for both the mayor and deputy mayor in Southgate. Incumbent Brian Milne is being challenged by Anna Marie Fosbrooke and Mike Scarre.Incumbent Deputy Mayor Norman Jack is up against Allen Dobreen.

In Chatsworth, Current Mayor Bob Pringle is being challenged by Ron Smith. Current Councillor Scott MacKey will face off against incumbent Terry McKay in the race for deputy mayor .

In Georgian Bluffs, Mayor Allen Barfoot is acclaimed. Incumbent Deputy Mayor Dwight Barfoot will compete for the job against Cal Confer.
All five incumbent councillors are running again, along with five new candidates.

In Grey Highlands, Current Deputy Mayor Paul McQeeun, and current Councillor Paul Allen will run for mayor. The deputy mayor candidates are current Councillor Stewart Halliday and Brian Mullin.

In Blue Mountains, John F. McKean and current Deputy Mayor Duncan McKinlay are running for the mayor’s job. Paul Mitchell , and current Councillor Gail Ardiel are in the race for deputy mayor.

It is a four way race for mayor in Owen Sound. Long time resident Mike Zimon joins incumbent Deb Haswell, former mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners, and Councillor Ian Boddy. Owen Sound has a municipal election race for deputy mayor. Councillor Arlene Wright, and Councillor David Adair have both submitted their nomination papers for the position. 18 people are interested in winning the seven seats available on council.

Meaford has five mayoral candidates and 13 candidates seeking five councillor seats. Ray McHugh is the fifth Meaford resident to enter the mayoral race. The other four are Councillors Barbara Clumpus, Deborah Young, and newcomers Jim McPherson and Noreen Hunter Riley. Incumbent deputy mayor Harley Greenfield and newcomer David Long are contesting the deputy mayor’s seat on Meaford council.

In the Hanover municipal election, three people are vying for the position of mayor. They area current Councillor Sue Paterson, Bluewater Radio CEO Andrew McBride, and former highschool principal and veteran councillor David Hocking. Current Councillor Selwyn Hicks is challenging incumbent Bob White for the job of Deputy Mayor. 11 candidates will compete for five councillor positions.
