Vehicle Deer Collision Kills Woman Near Port Albert

A vehicle-deer collision near Port Albert has claimed the life of one woman.

The tragic mishap occurred shortly after 7:00 last night on Bluewater Veterans Highway 21 at Victoria Street in Port Albert.

The initial OPP investigation determined that an SUV was southbound on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway when it collided with a deer on the road. The impact sent the deer airborne into the path of a northbound Ford Escape. The deer crashed through the windshield of the Escape and a struck the front seat passenger.

A female passenger in the Escape was killed instantly. The driver of the Escape was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Two occupants in the SUV were not hurt.

The victim’s name won’t be released until all the family has been notified. Bluewater Veteran’s Highway was closed all night between Drury Lane to the north and Ashfield Street to the South.
