Wellington County OPP have made an arrest after a brief chase resulted in the Flag at the Drayton Cenotaph being knocked down.

Back on August 22nd police say the driver of a pick up truck ran a stop sign in Mapleton township. A chase led to the town of Drayton and ended after the pick up knocked over the flagpole at the cenotaph.

Police would later find the truck abandoned along with a stolen motorcycle , tools and what they suspect was marijuana.

Yesterday police entered a suspects home in Palmerston with a warrant to arrest the male suspect.

Michael Cassel of Palmerston is charged with numerous charges which include; dangerous driving, flight while being pursued and possession of stolen property.

He also had 4 outstanding Criminal Code warrants involving stolen property, drugs, driving offences, failing to attend court and a weapons offence.
