Goderich Prepares for Industrial Development

The town of Goderich is poised to move ahead with the extension of Parsons Court which will open up about 25 acres of land for industrial development.
C-A-O Larry McCabe explains the town only has one or two acres of available industrial land.
The town went through the environmental assessment back in 2008 – 2009.
He says, “The then Minister of the Environment approved the project in May of 2009. There were requirements within the approval to meet and that’s what process we are in now. To extend the road we have to get an environmental compliance certificate and that’s gone and all the requirements have been met.”
Tenders were opened at at council’s last meeting .
The lowest of three bids came in at 973-thousand dollars, well under the amount budgeted from reserves. McCabe adds it’s time for the project to move ahead.
