The re-build of the courthouse park in Goderich following the tornado was officially celebrated yesterday.

The rain threatened but never materialized and somehow that was fitting as dignitaries and a few hundred Goderich residents recognized the efforts of municipal officials and patted themselves on the back as the town emerged stronger than ever.

Re-build Co-Chair and Goderich Deputy Mayor John Grace thanked everyone for their dedication to the re-build and particularly pointed to the confidence the private sector showed in their investment in the re-build.

For Grace, the unveiling of the performance stage was clearly the exclamation point on the re-build of the Courthouse Park. It’s breath-taking and a little controversial and Grace says that’s as it should be.

But he also adds it’s growing on people and it reflects the town’s heritage.
