An Owen Sound community activist is running for city council in the fall election.

Richard Thomas led the effort to keep the city’s Marine and Rail Museum open. The former news reporter currently runs his own media company.

He has been a member of the board of the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library for 11 years, 7 of those as its chair. He also sits on the Owen Sound Hospital Foundation Board, and is presently a member of the Communications Team for The Hospital Campaign, which is raising funds for cancer care at the Owen Sound Regional Hospital.

Thomas believes the city’s harbour area is an untapped resource that could form the basis of economic development in the city and surrounding area.
