Shelburne Fiddle Champion Crowned
A young man from Barrie is a Canadian fiddle champion once again.
Kyle Charron was crowned the Canadian Open Old Time Fiddle Champion in Shelburne on the weekend.
It was Kyle’s fourth Championship. His previous Championships were in 2011, 2009, and 2007 when, at 17, he was the youngest fiddler to ever win the Championship.
There were 60 contest entries from as far away as Fairbanks, Alaska. The Junior Championship, for ages 13 to 18, was won by Celine Murray of Dorchester, Ontario.
The Saturday afternoon show at the arena featured The Ballagh Bunch from Teeswater in a fiddling, stepdancing, and singing show for a crowd of over 250.
