Grand Bend Tornado Damage Adding Up

August 7, 2014 6:25am
Damage from a tornado that tore through Grand Bend last month is easily in the multi-million dollar range.
The estimate comes from Sarnia’s Robert Dale Engineering which has been busy responding to insurance claims in the Lake Huron resort community.
President Geoff Dale says they’ve looked at a number of homes which had up to four oak trees fall on them.
The EF1 tornado produced peak winds of between 155-175 km/h and knocked down hydro poles and trees.
The Municipality of Lambton Shores has decided to apply for disaster relief.
An application will be considered by council today. (Thursday, August 7)
