Goderich Workshop To Slow Storm RunoffJuly 30, 2014 6:00am
Property owners in the Ausable Bayfield Watershed have some new tools to reduce water damage from extreme weather.
Ausable Bayfield Communications Specialist Tim Cumming says the Rural Stormwater Management Model provides several options for land owners
Tim Cumming points out that more frequent and more intense weather events are making it more important that property owners prevent water from stripping valuable topsoil from their fields. Severe storms also wash more sediments and nutrients into streams and eventually into Lake Huron.
Cumming says the model is intended to make sure that landowners get the most accurate advice about which system will be most effective in holding water on their property a little longer.
