Two Saugeen Shores athletes need some help in order to be able to compete for Canada.

Dan Wilsdon and Madison Ashton from the Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club have been selected to the 24-person Canadian team travelling to France in September to take part in the World Lifesaving Championships.

Wilsdon says they need to come up with $4,000 per athlete to pay for the trip and have been largely unsuccessful in raising the funds so far.

He says they held a bottle drive earlier this summer and are selling t-shirts and raffle tickets right now, but have only raised about $600 each so far, adding they were hoping for more community support as they prepare head off to represent the country.

Wilsdon says he and Ashton will be competing in pool events and possibly beach events.
