15 Non-Profit Organizations And Charities Receive Funding

15 non-profit organizations and charities across Grey-Bruce have received funding from Community Foundation Grey-Bruce.

Earlier this year, the Foundation announced funding would be available for capital projects, with a focus on new capital equipment, renovations and retrofits.

In a release, Community Foundation Grey-Bruce Executive Director Aly Boltman says the need for capital funding for regional charities was overwhelming. She says they were able to leverage significant additional funding to enable the Foundation to have the broadest impact possible in Grey Bruce.

The foundation granted nearly 130-thousand dollars to the 15 groups.

The following is a list of successful projects from the program:

  • Bruce Grey Family & Child Services: Purchase of equipment for a new family time room, $6,000
  • Bruce Peninsula District School Parent Council: Playground equipment for a community park, $12,000
  • Cape Croker United Church: Creation of a music studio/home theatre in the manse community centre, $5,900
  • Community Waterfront Heritage Centre: Funding for specialized software, equipment and cabinetry, $13,000
  • Durham Arena Renovation Committee: Warming area for families/seniors/disabled in the arena, $15,000
  • Georgian Bay Folk Society: Three new permanent bleachers for Summerfolk and future rentals, $13,200
  • The Harmony Centre: Funding for the creation of a main floor accessible washroom, $7,000
  • Keystone Child Youth and Family: Tele-psychiatry equipment to aid in the assessment of youth, $9,212
  • Markdale Minor Soccer: Major capital equipment purchases for field expansion project, $12,000
  • Owen Sound Little Theatre: Funding for a new lighting board, $7,000
  • Participation Lodge: Snoezelen room equipment for adults with brain injuries and developmental delays, $3,300
  • Saugeen First Nation: New beds for women’s shelter, $5,900
  • Tara Food Bank: Funding for electrical wiring for improvements to food bank, $ 3,350
  • Teeswater Lawn Bowling Club: Funding for new sewer hook up/water hook up, $3,500
  • Wes For Youth Online: Installation and purchase of new furnace, accessible washroom renovations, $12,000

The deadline for CFGB’s next funding intake for projects and programs is September 30th.
