Southgate Parks Turning Red

Southgate is going to spend an extra $3,000 to have red rather than black surface material in several playgrounds.
The rubber material comes from pulverized automotive tires and with the red colour added, will cost a total of $23,000.
Some councillors felt the black coloured material might get too hot during the summer for children to play on comfortably.
On top of making the ground cooler, Southgate Mayor Brian Milne says the red rubber will add some colour to the parks and be better looking than just black rubber.
