Planning for a new off leash dog park in Bayfield is moving forward.

The original proposal suggested that the ball diamond could also be used as a dog park, but the idea was dismissed due to concerns from a local baseball team

Bluewater CAO Steve McAuley says they’re now looking at an area adjacent to the ball diamond.

However, the proposal is still creating concerns form some residents, so staff will work with citizens and dog owners to try to come up with a final solution. Some residents are worried about noise, and increased traffic.

There are about 100 registered dog owners in the village, with more dogs visiting on a seasonal basis .

Dog park supporters will be expected to raise the $20,000 needed for fencing, and a water source.
