Distracted Driver Blamed In Wingham Crash

A case of distracted driving is believed to be the cause of a three-vehicle collision in downtown Wingham last evening.

The investigation by the Wingham Police Service determined one vehicle crossed the centre of Josephine St., striking two other vehicles, and causing the air bags to deploy in one.

A 6-year-old was taken to Wingham and District Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Witnesses observed one of the drivers talking on a cell phone at the time of the collision.

A 55-year-old man from the Lucknow area is facing charges of careless driving and using a hand held communication device.
