Owen Sound Waste Water Treatment Upgrades

One of the biggest capital projects ever in Owen Sound has been given the green light.

Council has approved awarding a contract so work can start on upgrades to the city’s waste water treatment plant.

Councillor Bill Twaddle is chair of the committee that’s been working on the project for years. He says the upgrades mean treated waste water will be a clean as it can possibly be before being discharged into the bay.

The upgrades to Owen Sound’s waste water treatment plant will cost about 48 million dollars with the city’s share about 18 million. The work is scheduled to take a little more than two years.
