Lucknow Flood Prevention Projects Underway

The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority is working on several flood-prevention projects in the Lucknow area.

Watershed Resources engineer Stephen Jackson told Huron-Kinloss Township council last night that there has been flooding in Lucknow before, and there will be again.
Jackson says another flood in the village is just a matter of when the right storm hits.

Councillors were told that improving flood and erosion safety services will help municipalities reduce the potential for damage to development and property located in flood and erosion prone areas. The changing climate is increasing the potential and severity of flooding in both rural and urban areas.

Lucknow flood progression mapping and incorporation into the Municipal Flood Emergency Plan is one of the many projects underway by the MVCA.
