Pickle Ball In Bayfield Receives Federal Grant
A federal grant of $25,000 through the New Horizons for Seniors Program has helped launch a pickle ball program at the Bayfield Arena. Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb dropped by to play a little and announce the grant.
The pickle ball program was organized by Bayfield Mews and Project Manager Malcom Ross says the grant will cover the cost of equipment and facility rentals for the first year.
They play on Monday nights and Wednesday and Thursday mornings and Ross says they are getting as many as 24 players at any time. They have about 70 players altogether on their list and the number is growing.
They use the Bayfield Arena now, and will move to the Varna Auditorium in the winter.
Ross says pickle ball associations are now in place in Ontario and across Canada as well as in the US.
