Methadone Goes Missing From Markdale Pharmacy

A potentially dangerous drug has been reported missing from the I.D.A. Pharmacy in Markdale.

The owner of the pharmacy contacted Grey County OPP last night to report that a quantity of methadone was unaccounted for. It was last dispensed Wednesday afternoon.

Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a dark coloured glass bottle, labelled ‘Methadone’. Anyone finding one of these bottles is asked to contact the OPP right away.

Even a small quantity of methadone can be fatal if used improperly. Methadone is a synthetic narcotic used for the relief of pain and as a substitute narcotic in the treatment of heroin addiction.
