Vanastra Pool Renovations Funding Request

The Facilities Manager for the Vanastra Rec Centre made a request for funding at last night’s Central Huron council meeting.

Lissa Berard explains they’re in the process of making some extensive renovations to the Centre. She says they’ve already put in a new ceiling, new duct work and new deck in the pool area as well as installing non-slip flooring in the change and hall area.

Phase Two involves a new floor plan for the community centre that includes a barrier-free washroom as well as separate washrooms for men and women. Phase Three involves new flooring and windows in the community centre.

The total cost will be around 385-thousand dollars and they’re hoping to fund-raise about 150-thousand dollars.

Berard points out that residents of surrounding municipalities use the Vanastra facility so they’re approaching those municipal councils for support.
No specific figure was requested and Central Huron council referred the request to budget.
