Members of the Huron Tourism Association are optimistic about this summer season.

Huron County’s Tourism Co-ordinator, Cindy Fisher acknowledges that rising gas prices may influence how far people drive, but prices are high everywhere and she says most people won’t cancel a holiday over high gas prices.

Fisher points out that much of Huron County’s tourism traffic is from Ontario and expects that to continue.
She adds festivals and special events are what attract people and keep them here longer and Huron County has an abundance of very popular special events.

Fisher says another encouraging sign is that statistic from the Stratford Festival indicate that American traffic is beginning to trickle back into the area, and the numbers in Stratford were up last year for the first time in several years.
