Owen Sound Man Facing Weapons Charges

An Owen Sound man appears in court today for a bail hearing, facing a number of weapons-related charges.

Owen Sound police received a tip yesterday that a young man had threatened the life of his girlfriend’s mother and sister over the phone.

After the threats were made, a man put a pellet pistol in his waist band and set out on foot toward his girlfriend’s home. The pellet pistol closely resembled a real handgun.

On his way, he met a female friend and showed her the butt of the gun, in the presence of her 4-year-old daughter. He again made remarks that he was going to harm someone. The young woman called police.

No one was harmed during the incident.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at his downtown apartment without incident. He has been charged with two counts of uttering threats, carrying a concealed weapon, weapons for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order.
