Consultant Seeking New Medical Officer For HuronJune 11, 2014 12:12pm
The Huron County Health Board has hired a consulting firm to find a new medical officer of health for the county.
Board Chair Bill Dowson says the consultant’s fee is around $40,000 but that includes a guarantee that a suitable candidate will be found.
In the past, Huron has had a dual management model that involved a medical officer of health and an administrator, but most recently Dr. Nancy Cameron was responsible for both until she was relieved of her duties last November.
Since then, Doctor Maarten Bokhout of Clinton has been the acting MOH. Dowson says they’d like to find a new MOH as soon as possible and a decision on a future management model will depend on the qualifications of the candidate.
