Huron County telecommunications providers have expressed concerns to county council about a program being proposed by the Western Wardens.
The proposal would see broadband extended to all areas of Southwestern Ontario, but local providers are concerned that implementation of the program would also be an invitation for national providers to come into the area and take over services they’re already providing.

Huron County CAO Brenda Orchard points out that Huron County councillors share those concerns and while the Western Wardens says they won’t let that happen, the providers and county councillors are looking for something in writing.

Orchard adds Western Wardens promised at their last meeting to have something by this fall, but the providers would like something sooner and have submitted an itemized list of their concerns to take back to the Western Wardens.
