Georgian College in Owen Sound continues to expand its Marine Training program.

In a presentation to Grey County council, college officials outlined a new $7 million Marine Safety training program.  Georgian’s president Marylynn West-Moynes says the training would be for cadets as well as employed mariners from outside the area for safety training re-certification.  They’ve asked for a $2 million contribution from Grey County.

West-Moynes says the project would bring people to Grey Bruce resulting in economic spin offs.  The new training program at Georgian College in Owen Sound would require the addition of a 6,500 square foot facility.

Grey County council sent the request for funding to a committee.
