Morris-Turnberry Council Concerned About Proposed Rail Trail

Members of Morris-Turnberry council have some concerns about the proposed Guelph to Goderich trail.

The trail would extend 127 km along a former CPR rail line.  Morris-Turnberry Mayor Paul Gowing says while the land is owned by the province, it runs through lower-tier communities and land that is owned and farmed by local residents.

Gowing says some councillors have concerns about the impact of large numbers of people using the trail and how that would affect their ability to continue to farm their property.

Gowing adds county staff are looking into issue and will host a public meeting sometime this fall that will hopefully answer some of the concerns.
