Hanover Officer Injured While Arresting Suspect
A Hanover police officer was injured while responding to two robberies last night.
Police were already responding to a theft at the Hanover LCBO when they were alerted to a second theft in progress at the Walmart.
The suspect was arrested and during a struggle the officer suffered a broken leg, while the suspect suffered minor injuries. Many citizens came to the aid of the officer and helped restrain the suspect until additional officers arrived.
The officer was transferred to Victoria Hospital in London for surgery on the broken leg.
The suspect has since been identified as 36-year-old Christopher Weber. He faces charges for both reported thefts on top of charges in relation to the assault of the officer.
